Due to essential maintenance, the City West Pridham Hall swimming pool will be closed for renovations from 8pm Thursday 11 December 2025 and is scheduled to reopen on Monday 23 February 2026. Swimming Lessons will be available to purchase and book from February 2026 when further information is available.

We have a range of options for your swimming lessons, ranging from Beginner classes all the way up to Advanced.
Whether you’re brand new to the pool and looking to learn, or have experience and want to learn stroke technique or improve your style, there’s a class for you.

Disability access to the Pridham Hall swimming pool is available via a large access ramp, with a water wheelchair available for use.

During your swimming lesson you can store your valuables in our free lockers.
Goggles and other swimming accessories are available for purchase from the lobby, allowing you to go into the pool fully equipped to learn.
Learn to swim with confidence at Adelaide University gyms. Adult swimming lessons are available throughout the year at City West Pridham Hall’s unique indoor swimming pool, with all classes conducted by qualified AUSTSWIM swimming instructors.
Our qualified and experienced swimming instructors will cover a range of skills, with a focus on stroke development and correction.
WHICH CLASS SHOULD YOU TAKE?
Beginner
Suitable for adults with limited experience swimming, or who are unable to swim at least ten metres without stopping.
Intermediate
Suitable for adults with some previous swimming experience, or people who want to learn to swim 25 metres or more without stopping.
Advanced
Suitable for adults who can swim 25 metres or more without stopping, and want to improve their swimming style or learn a different swimming stroke.

FIVE LANES FOR LAP SWIMMING
Pridham Hall’s swimming pool has five lanes for lap swimming, with at least two lanes open for members and visitors at all times. Disability access is made possible via an integrated access ramp.

WHAT WE FOCUS ON: Our qualified and experienced swimming instructors will cover a range of skills, with a focus on stroke development and correction.
LOCATION: Our program is conveniently located at City West Pridham Hall - nearby the Adelaide University Campus on Hindley Street. There’s plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants to relax and grab a coffee after your session.
GETTING HERE: City West Pridham Hall is easily accessible via public transport, including train, tram, and bus. There are metered parking spots available. You’ll find us on the bottom floor. Just take the stairs or lift down to find the front desk.

Adult swimming lessons cost $20 per lesson.
Lessons will be available for purchase from February 2026.

Yes, the Pridham Hall swimming pool is heated to 28 degrees all year round.

The maximum number of students per class is 4.

For each lesson we suggest you wear good quality chlorine resistant bathers and goggles. We also recommend you bring a towel, water bottle and warm clothes to change into afterwards. All other equipment will be provided. Some wearable equipment is available for purchase in the lobby.

All classes are conducted by qualified AUSTSWIM swimming instructors who also have a current Working with Children Clearance.

If you are unable to attend a lesson, please email pridhamhall@unisa.edu.au with your name, the date and time of the lesson you will miss, and your preferred date and time for rescheduling the missed lesson.

Lap swimming is restricted to two lanes due to squad training during the following times:
Monday & Tuesday, 5:00-7:30pm
Thursday, 6:30-7:30am
Friday, 6:00-7:45pm
Lap swimming is restricted to three lanes due to swimming lessons during the following times:
Monday, 2:00-5:00pm
Tuesday, 10:00am-3:00pm
